The 4th of July video was relatively easy to put together this year. I knew my major events would include the pool parties, parade, and the fireworks. The concept of capturing faces from the light given off from the exploding fireworks was something I’d planned in advance. I have to give a big thanks to Harbor Master, Rex McKinsey for giving me such great access to the fireworks barge as well as being one of only two photographers allowed at the very end of the pier so I could get the closeup footage of the fireworks. A lot of people ask me why I didn’t film the fireworks with the drone. The reason is during the actual fireworks show there is a temporary transfer of power from the Harbor Master to the Fire Chief. Drone laws also change at that moment so that I’d have to be 500 feet away which is too far to capture anything even remotely impressive.
