Gull Heart was a bit of an accident. I had filmed the dunes of Provincetown with my Smooth 2 gimbal for the iPhone while out with Art’s Dune Tours and had already released a video of it when I started to notice the relationship between Hilde’s poem (which we had recorded about a month earlier) and the content of the video. In only a few hours I pieced this film together, creating pauses where pauses were needed, and picked a piece of music that flowed very well with the voiceover track. The music was composed by Adi Goldstein who I have worked with before and plan to work with again in the future. Hilde later told me this was one of her least favorite poems, but the video changed her attitude about it. I guess that’s the magic of creative collaboration.
